Graveside Services for Mr. Frank Ulmer “Sonny” Wimberley, Sr. 88, of West Monroe, LA, will be held on Sunday, January 31, 2021 at 3:00 P.M. at Kilpatrick’s Serenity Gardens, with Pastor Art Beebe and Steve Cranford officiating under the direction of Kilpatrick Funeral Home, West Monroe, LA.
Sonny Wimberley was born in West Monroe, LA on September 25, 1932 and passed away, January 28, 2021 peacefully at his home in West Monroe. He was a devoted husband to Peggy Joyce Wimberley for more than 69 years and retired in 2002 from Custom Machine Works which he helped start up in 1957. He was a U.S. Navy veteran serving in the Korean War era aboard the USS George A Johnson. His kind and loving heart exemplified his devotion to his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
He was preceded in death by his father and mother, Frank F. and Ola M. Wimberley of West Monroe and infant son James Kevin Wimberley.
Survivors include his wife Peggy Wimberley; sister Artie Wimberley Thayer of Modesto, CA; sons, William A. “Bill” (Maggie) of Milton FL, Frank Jr (Susan) of Heber Springs AR, Michael Steven ”Steve” (Janie), Bryan M (Rhonda) Wimberley and daughter Lori D. (Kenny) Dickens all of West Monroe LA; grandchildren, Felicia Plybon of Fate, TX, Michael Wimberley of West Monroe, Robert Wimberley of Pensacola, FL. and Angela Wimberley of Milton, FL; many great and great-great grandchildren as well as friends and family are left behind to cherish his memory.
Pallbearers will be Bill, Frank, Steve and Bryan Wimberley, Kenny Dickens and Steve Cranford.
The family would like to thank Louisiana Hospice and Palliative Care, especially Ricky Baker, Christiana Darrington-Clark, Amy Thornton, Jennia Adams, and Tamiko Smith for their relentless care and support during this difficult time.
