Cathy & Sherry, I'm so sorry to hear of your mom's passing and I'm sorry I didn't make it by the funeral home. She was always such a pleasant and sweet lady, and I know will be missed by many. I'm sorry for your loss.

Sherry and Cathey: I am so sorry you lost your precious mother. Faye was such a fun person. One story about her I especially remember is when a little boy came into the post office and was trying to put a stamp on his letter. She saw he was having difficulty and told him to let her do it for him. She licked the stamp and he said "Mam, I already did that." Daddy said when he came in from his route, she was still spitting and sputtering and telling him all about it. Of course, he thought it was hilarious and kidded her about it from then on. Faye taught so many of us to play piano. Some, like me, did not want to learn, but still did. She was a very patient teacher. I think more than anything, I remember Faye playing at church each Sunday. She was dedicated to her service for the Lord. I know you will miss her and pray your faith will sustain you through this difficult time. I was going to try to come to the wake this evening, but I am with Mama 24/7 because of the weather. Love and prayers for both of you. Nanette
Martha Roberson Vail left a message on February 25, 2015:
I can still see Fay faithfully playing the organ or piano at church every Sunday and I can still see her smile as she greeted me every time I entered the Chatham Post Office. It was such a welcomed sight for a newcomer to town back in 1965. I grew to know her through my friendship with Sherry and today I thought of Fay as a "Carol Burnett" of Chatham. She has left us all with smiles, and laughs, and heartwarming memories. God Bless you, Sherry and Cathy and families. We will miss your Mother with you as well. Love to all and special prayers.
Peace of mind is a call away. We're here when you need us most.

Sherry, you have my deepest sympathy on the passing of your mom. Fay was always a sweet, kind and caring lady. Every Sunday she could be found playing the organ or piano for our church. I know she taught you, Cathy and many others to play the piano. Seems her life was filled with music and sharing her talent with others. She left a great legacy. I know your faith and heartwarming memories will help you through the days ahead. With love, Sue Hightower
