The scriptures mentions that if you inspect the fruit of a tree you can know a lot about that tree. I have never met Eva, but I have met her fruit, her daughter Esther. Eva, you bore good fruit. Glory forever.

Dear Esther & David, I just learned of the passing of your mom. I was blessed to have been able to work alongside her at OCS. She was a "mom" to many of us. Loving, kind, and always "guiding" us to make solid and compassionate decisions for the children in our care. I remember once, she and I went to a staffing in Oak Grove and I was driving....as I went back and forth from lane to lane on Main Street in "big" Oak Grove, I said, "well, I guess it's not against the law to go from lane to lane", which she quietly replied, "yes, but I think they do expect you to use your blinkers!" A small thing, I know, but that has always stuck in my head and I ALWAYS use my blinker when I change lanes! A respected and wise woman whose guidance was always clothed with the sweet spirit of the Lord. It makes me smile to know that she is now realizing in Heaven the impact her life has had on countless lives on earth!
Jimmie Allen left a message on April 25, 2007:
Esther and David, my sadness at Ms. Eva Jean's passing is coupled with the joy I know she is expriecing right now today as she has finally seen the face of Jesus. For years at NMBC I heard of Ms. Eva Jean and her teachings. When I retired in 2004 I joined Judy Matkins' Tuesday morning Bible Study group. How fortunate I was that Ms. Eva Jean was a member. Oh how I loved to hear her read from the bible and no one prayed any sweeter than she did...we were so blessed by her presence. Your grief has to be softened in knowing your Mother is where she wanted to be all her life. Praise God for her life and the blessing she was to so many. Jimmie Allen

Esther, David and family, Miss Eva Jean has meant so much to me. She mentored me in Bible study and truly became a friend. I will miss her, but I'm so happy she is with your dad now. She lived what she believed and made so many of us better for it. May God comfort and keep you during this time. --- Sheryl Potts and family
Kelley Mitchell left a message on April 24, 2007:
Eva Jean was a great mentor and friend. Her life was a testimony to her faith. She was the first to admit she did not have all the answers, but she knew the one who did. She was always willing to spend the time to encourage others whether laughing or crying or searching God's word together. Always leading to the truth that our heavenly father knows our heart, our hurts, our victories and will use all of them to mold us into a vessel with which to pour out his love to others. What treasured memories! She will be greatly missed. In Christ's love, Kelley

Esther, can you imagine your Mom sitting at the feet of Jesus right now and praising Him and adoring Him right now? It made my heart leap for joy when I thought of my Dad being there even in the midst of the pain. And it still does even now all these years later. I know it will for you, too. I am praying for you that Jesus will bless you and pour out His love upon you.

I want to say to the Elahi family that Mrs. Elahi will surely be missed. I had the opportunity to work with her, and she was a very sweet and kind person. She always treated everyone with respect and I never heard her say anything negative about others or the Agency. May the Lord continue to strengthen you and your family. I also pray that you continue to keep her memories alive. God Bless.

I am so sorry for the loss of your mom. Eva Jean and I worked together for years in Child Protection in Ouachita, she as a supervisor and me as a brand new worker. One of the things I remember so clearly about her was her response to me when I would ask her a policy question. She would always tell me to "Look it up myself!" so that I would know how to use our huge policy manual. It would take me some time, but I could usually find it. If I went back to her for it, I would say, "Before you tell me to look it up myself, I already did and can't find it." She would grin and we would talk about it. She is responsible for my knowledge and understanding of our policy to this day!! Eva Jean also prayed with me one day about a monumental decision I had to make about a foster child. I'll never forget her. She was a kind, gentle person, with a quiet, calming spirit and she will be sorely missed.
Peace of mind is a call away. We're here when you need us most.

Dear family: It has been a privilege to have had Eva Jean so influence my spiritual walk with the LORD. Eva Jean was my Sunday School teacher at Lakeshore Baptist Church, my mentor, my friend. Eva Jean life is reflected in so many others. She was God's faithful servant who heart and service was so apparent that it cause others to want to model that same walk. May the LORD comfort you with His abiding presence and peace. We rejoice to know that Eva Jean is in the very presence of God. He has welcomed her home and I can imagine He has already told her - welcome home my good and faithful servant! We send our love and prayers to your family, Gary and Carolyn Cox Joyce

Aunt Eva Jean was a lovely godly woman who we admired greatly. Her love for God was obvious in all she did. We will miss her kind spirit. Her love of serving others was evident in many ways ranging from hospitality to leading other women to a deeper relationship with God through leading Bible studies. We will miss her greatly, but rejoice she is no longer in pain here, but home with Jesus.
