Funeral services for Erlene Baxter Skipper Elmore will be held at 10:00 A.M., Monday, May 23, 2022 at Fair Park Baptist Church with Rev. Waymon Warren and Bro. Ricky Nolan officiating. Interment will follow at New Chapel Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be held Sunday, May 22, 2022 from 4:00 P.M. until 6:00 P.M. at the church under the direction of Kilpatrick Funeral Home West Monroe.
Angels came to take mother to Heaven on May 19, 2022 surrounded by her family as she answered the Lord’s call.
Erlene owned and operated Skipper’s Beauty Shop for 40 years. She was a member of Fair Park Baptist Church since 1949 and taught Sunday School for over 60 years, served on many committees including Sunday School director and member of the choir. For over 50 years she bowled and served as director and officer in the North Louisiana Bowling Association. She bowled in city, state and National Tournaments for 25 years.
Erlene was preceded in death by her parents Mae and Ellis Baxter; husband of 47 years and father of her children Barney W. (Pete) Skipper and second husband William C. Elmore; son William Glenn (Billy) Skipper; sister Mrytice Laster; brother Hilton Baxter; stepson Gary Elmore.
Erlene is survived by daughters Darlene Wheat and husband Steve, Helen Nolan and husband Ricky; son Jackie Skipper and wife Karen; stepchildren Barbara Elmore, Phillip Elmore (Kay), Jody Elmore (Sherri), Kay Reeves, Candance Henderson ; grandchildren Kathlene Hutchison (Derek), Stephanie Thomas (Charles), Cindi Wainwright (David), Joseph Nolan (Stacy), Meredith Harris (Trey), Christopher Skipper (Jolene), Jameson Skipper, Michael Skipper (Lynn Maples), Melanie Welch, Misty Gray; great-grandchildren Brandon Garrett, Ashley Gray, Derrick Gray, Breck Davis, Cody Davis, Kylene Lowrey, Chase and Carson Thomas, Bryce Nolan (Amanda), William Nolan, Lily, Seth, and Allie Wainwright, Caden, Cole and Maeby Skipper, Hudson and Brinley Harris; great-great grandchildren Luke Nolan, Mia Davis, Hayden Davis; brothers Charles Baxter (Sandra), Johnny Baxter; sisters Janice Zuber, Velva Collins and Diane Maynor; numerous nieces, nephews and a host of friends.
