Funeral services for Mrs. Eloise E. Lee Moore, age 85, of Baton Rouge, LA will be at 2:00 PM Thursday, July 26, 2007 at Kilpatrick Funeral Home of Monroe. Rev. Thomas C. French of Jefferson Baptist Church of Baton Rouge, LA will be officiating and interment will follow at Monroe Memorial Park under the direction of Kilpatrick Funeral Home of Monroe. Mrs. Moore was born February 10, 1922 and passed away after a short illness July 23, 2007 in Baton Rouge, LA. She was preceded in death by her husband: Keith Moore; two sisters, three brothers and her step-daughter: Jane. Eloise or Nonnie as family referred to her – enjoyed a 34-year career with Sears Roebuck & Company. She was so fond of her time with Sears that she never missed the reunion gathering held annually in Monroe, often taking along her daughter, son or one of her grandchildren. After leaving Sears, she joined the Louisiana Department of Labor and worked for 10 more years before retiring. After retiring from the state, she continued to work as a Department of Labor unemployment arbitrator for various companies throughout the state of Louisiana. Nonnie was a breast cancer survivor and was often called upon to visit other women and encourage them in their recovery. Nonnie was a spirited individual who enjoyed life, was eager to engage in conversation and always willing to share her perspectives. Sometimes her quick wit and observations left her family speechless, but more often than not it left them with smiles, laughter and great stories to share. Nonnie understood how to enjoy a night out for a good meal and a good glass of wine. She never missed her exercise classes, took every opportunity to go dancing and found exhilaration in shopping for that perfect outfit. She always looked much younger than her years and was proud of it. Nonnie was reared during the Great Depression and taught us how to make the most of what we had. She rarely had time for complainers, and was quick to point out that you have more control over your destiny when you lift your head up and find some direction. She was generous, encouraging and warm when warranted, and provided tough love when necessary. You never had to guess where you stood with Nonnie. Whether you wanted to know or not, she always let you know exactly what was on her mind. It's one of the things we loved about her most. Nonnie's soul mate and best friend was her husband, Keith Moore, who died 20 years ago. Poppa Keith – as we called him – was a gentle, compassionate and witty man who provided love, compassion and steadfastness for Nonnie, her children and grandchildren. Nonnie referred to Keith as her "angel" and appropriately is now spending eternity by his side. We'll miss her greatly. Our lives will not be as lively, we won't get to be surprised by her next observation, and we won't get to marvel any longer at her vitality and wit, but we will always remember her. Mrs. Moore is survived by her daughter: Sharon Thomisee Eppinette and husband, Eugene Eppinette; son: Randy Thomisee and friend, Sheron Fisher; step-son: Richard Moore and wife, Judy; step-daughters: Sally Gore and husband, Glen, Doll Campbell and husband, Tommy, and Mary Ann Gomez and husband, Jesus; grandchildren: Kevin Maria Coon, Kendra Lee Coon Smith and husband, Kurt, Allen Howard Coon, Jr. and wife, Kay, Christopher Buckley Coon and wife, Julie, and Bradley Thomisee and wife, Tammy; eight great-grandchildren and many other family and friends. Pallbearers will be step-son: Richard Moore; nephew: Ernest McCormick; grandsons: Allen Howard Coon, Jr., Christopher Coon, Bradley Thomisee; and grandson-in-law: Kurt Smith. Honorary pallbearers will be: Bobby Lee, Jimmie Lee, Carl Myer, Jerry Myer, and Gene McCormick. Visitation will be 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM Wednesday, July 25, 2007 at Kilpatrick Funeral Home of Monroe, LA.
