Theo Elizabeth Rogers Hastings, age 85, of Monroe, Louisiana, passed away on January 19, 2018. She was born on February 7, 1932, in Centreville, Mississippi, the daughter of John Hugh Rogers and Rosa Theodore Poole Rogers. Elizabeth attended Lamar College in Beaumont, Texas. After moving to Baton Rouge, she met and married Eugene Frank Hastings, Phd. She worked for the State of Louisiana for many years and ultimately retired from the Louisiana Job Service. Prior to her retirement, she was also active in the Business and Professional Women Foundation. Elizabeth Hastings had made her home in Monroe for over twenty years and prior to that she lived and worked in Ruston, Louisiana. While living in Ruston she was active in the First Baptist Church and after moving to Monroe shebecame a member of Parkview Baptist Church where she was regularly involved in the Grace Bible Class. During the last ten years of her life, Elizabeth lived in St. Joseph Assisted Living. Elizabeth is preceded in death by her husband, Eugene F. Hastings; parents and five sisters, Mary B. Rogers Marsalis, Mildred Rogers McKnight, Polly Rogers Turfitt, Elaine Rogers Reynolds and Patricia A. Rogers; two brothers, Clifton Hugh Rogers, Sr. and Richard Jackson Rogers; nephews Cliff Rogers, Jr., Roger McKnight and Conrad Reynolds.Elizabeth is survived by her son, E. Eugene Hastings and wife, Margaret and their two sons, Cooper Hastings and McKenzie Hastings. She is also survived by her sister Juanita Rogers Rollins along with numerous nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews.Services will be held at 3:00 P.M., Monday, January 22, 2018 in the chapel of Kilpatrick Funeral Home Monroe. Visitation will begin at 1:00 P.M. until service time at the funeral home. Rev. William Smith will officiate. Interment will follow the services at Forest Lawn Memorial Park in Ruston, Louisiana under the direction of Kilpatrick Funeral Home of Monroe.Pallbearers will be family members including Charles Rogers, Joe Allen Rollins, Kim Rushing and Bob Butler.
