A memorial service for Elaine Faye Smith, age 74, will be held at 3:00 P.M., Sunday, November 19, 2023 at Harvest Assembly of God.  A gathering will be held following the service.

Elaine went home to be with the Lord on November 16, 2023 after a brief illness.

They say beauty is in the eye of the beholder.  If you ever knew Elaine, then you understood what true beauty was.  From her beautiful decorations, to her gorgeous heart for family, Elaine loved and helped everyone she knew.  She loved LSU and she loved the New Orleans Saints.  I’m sure of that fact because to most of us she was one.  She loved the mountains of Tennessee and her joy came each time she visited there.

In 1967, when she met the love of her life, Eddie Smith, they would set out on a love and life adventure that would last 56 years. She would go to work for Clyde’s Seafood and then Jim’s Seafood as a waitress for several years.  She would end her public working career as a bus driver  Elaine then would go full time into helping raise the family she loved so much.

Elaine was preceded in death by her parents Ed and Vernie Viola, her sister Elsie Moore, her maternal grandparents, Cora and Bell Moore and her paternal grandparents Clophire and Saraphine Viola.

She is survived by her husband of 56 years Eddie Smith, children Lori Gaines, Kevin Smith, Justin Smith and wife Chelsea, and Joey Varnell; grandchildren Trae Obed and wife Anna, Kayleigh Lockard and husband Brad, Sarah Grace Obed, Cassidy Varnell, Garrett Varnell, Annagrace Cook, Gunner Smith, Isabella Smith and Amara Smith; great grandchildren Kara Arnold, Emmy Obed and Kade Obed; nephews Mike and Kenny Brinson.
