Mrs. Gilmore was born May 30, 1945 in Winnsboro, LA and passed away February 7, 2008 in West Monroe. She was preceded in death by her parents; Oscar Lee Franks, Selma Finley Franks; daughter, Cindy Gilmore; brother, Robert Franks; sister, Jean Hadley Evans. She is survived by her husband, Tommy Gilmore; son Kevin Gilmore and wife Courtney of Conway, AR; sister, Barbara Franks of West Monroe, LA; Elizabeth Parker of Winnsboro, LA; brother, James Franks and wife Kay of Natchez, MS; granddaughter, Emily Gilmore; along with numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews. Elaine was a long-time employee for the City of West Monroe and her sweet voice and outgoing personality were apparent each and every time she answered the phone at City Hall. She attended First Baptist Church of West Monroe where she was a member of the choir. Friends were a very important part of Elaine’s life. Those friends were a comfort to her throughout her life, but especially during her illness within the last year. Whether it be cards, flowers, telephone calls or their numerous prayers, these friends have also been a great source of comfort for the entire family during this time. The light in Elaine’s eyes was her granddaughter, Emily Caroline. Elaine always referred to Emily as her princess and she certainly treated Emily in that manner. Elaine always made sure Emily had the prettiest dresses and all the accessories, especially that bow in her hair. Elaine loved Emily with all her heart and Emily loved her “Nana”. The family would like to extend their sincere gratitude to Dr. Weinberger and the entire 3rd floor nursing staff of Glenwood Regional Medical Center. They took such good care of Elaine and we will forever be grateful. Pallbearers will be Jimmy Nelson, Mike Allen, Jay Crain, Eddie Beard, Ougie Phillips, and Jimbo Smith. Honorary pallbearers will be Mayor Dave Norris, Doug Caldwell, and Benny Chelette. Visitation will be Saturday from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM at Kilpatrick Funeral Home West Monroe In lieu of flowers, friends may choose to make a donation in memory of Elaine to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital or the Louisiana Baptist Children’s Home.
