Funeral services for Edward Weldon Chapman will be held at 11:00 AM, Monday, August 2, 2021 at Kilpatrick Funeral Home, West Monroe, LA with Rev. Neil Everett of First Baptist Church of Calhoun officiating. Interment will follow at Beulah Cemetery in Calhoun, LA. Visitation will be from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM prior to the service.

E.W. “Ed” Chapman was born March 6, 1928 and passed away July 28, 2021. He is preceded in death by his parents, Oscar Simmons Chapman and Lillie Pearl Garrett Chapman; and siblings, Oliver, Mildred, Syble, Ruth, Garrett, David and Lora.

Ed is survived by his wife, Helon Pardo Chapman; brother, Ray Chapman; daughters, Sharon Boland and husband Richard, Peggy Garvin, and Donna Hamilton and husband Jeremiah; grandchildren, Eric and Mark Boland; and great-grandchildren, Jack and Emily Boland.

After graduating high school, Dad joined the Air Force and later received an honorable discharge due to family issues. Dad then went to work for Kraft Foods setting up sales displays for Piggly Wiggly Stores in Shreveport, LA. It was there he met and married our Mom, Charlene and they had the first of their three children. After Mom, Dad married Shirley, who worked in Dallas, and was from his hometown of West Monroe, LA.

After retiring from food service, Dad and his then current wife, Stacy, started a wildly successful clothing and lingerie business in Houston.

Finally retiring from “work life”, Dad met his current wife Helon. They enjoyed dining out at their favorite piano bar and restaurant, Reece’s. Because they were regular customers, their picture was included on the mural out front. He was a driven and determined man who was full of life, had numerous friends, and would never meet a stranger. He was debonair, funny, and very smart. Dad enjoyed sharing the fruits of his labor and was willing to help those in need. He will forever be held close to our hearts and will be missed greatly.
