Graveside services for Edward Donald Love, 81, of Monroe, LA will be held at 1:00 PM Friday, February 14, 2020 at Northeast Louisiana Veterans Cemetery in Rayville, LA under the direction of Kilpatrick Funeral Home of Monroe, LA.
Edward was born in Savannah, GA, March 10, 1938. He passed away February 9, 2020 in Monroe, LA. He was preceded in death by his parents, James Walter Love and Winifred Catherine Meehan; brother, Bobby Love and sister, Pat Ann Lee.
He is survived by his brothers, Jimmy and Charlie Love; sister, Betty Ferraro; four sons, Edward Dean, Kenneth James, Thomas Martin and Kirk K. Love.
Mr. Love attended school at Bethesda Home for Boys in Savannah, GA and from 1958 to 1962 was enlisted in the US Navy as an aircraft engine mechanic. After separation from military service in 1962 Ed worked for Rollins Corp as a manager for Orkin in Florida. After moving to Monroe, LA, Ed operated a lawn service business, Luv-n-Cuts, out of his infamous “Green Machine” truck. He was an avid dancer and for many years taught dance lessons throughout the area at schools, churches and clubs. Another of his favorite pastimes was tennis where he could often be found playing on a local court or in the stands watching others play. He also enjoyed cooking and serving meals to friends and church groups as well as home-bound and homeless members of the community.
Ed was a member of the former First Presbyterian Church in Monroe, followed by New Iona Presbyterian Church in West Monroe. He served as a Deacon of the Church and participated in many church groups included the Sewing Bee and Men’s Bible Study breakfast.
Ed was well known and well loved by people throughout the Monroe – West Monroe communities, all over North Louisiana and beyond. He will be greatly missed and fondly remembered by many dear friends and loved ones, not the least of which are the 18th Street McDonald’s breakfast bunch, but especially by Chris Ringo and Rodney and Shannon Berry whom cared for and tended to Ed in his greatest time of need.

Ed participated in a mission trip to Haiti with this organization and spoke of helping them again one day. You may also honor his memory by making a donation to a local charity or non-profit.
