Funeral services for Edith Jane (Flurry) Reeves, 87, of Bernice, LA will be at 2:00 p.m. Friday, March 9, 2018 at Weldon Baptist Church near Bernice, LA with Rev. Harvey Hoffman officiating. Burial will follow at Weldon Cemetery under direction of Kilpatrick Funeral Home. Visitation will be at the church one hour prior to the service.Edith was born in Claiborne Parish on January 14, 1931 and died March 5, 2018 at her home in Bernice, LA. She graduated from Summerfield High School in 1948 and then went to Arkansas to nursing school. After completing her nursing training, she returned to Louisiana to work. It was at Willis- Knighton Hospital that she met her husband to be, through a mutual friend. Bob was an Air Force sergeant who had planned to make it a career, however, they decided it would be in the best interest of their future family to leave the AF and continue his education. Edith and Bob were married October 11, 1954 in Uvalde, TX.With all their belongings in the back seat of a 1950 Chevy, they headed to College Station, TX. Bob enrolled in summer classes at Texas A&M, and Edith got a job as a Research Assistance working with Graduate Students. After Bob graduated with his engineering degree in 1958, they moved to several places with his jobs. After nearly 40 years, they returned to Louisiana to retire.Edith is preceded in death by her parents, Tommie Flurry and Dolly (Green) Flurry. sisters Earline (Flurry) Tatum, Bonnie (Flurry) Wiltcher, and brother Dale Flurry.Edith is survived by her husband of sixty three years, Bobby F. Reeves; son Robert Martin Reeves of Houston; daughter, Rini Michelle (Reeves) Pennington and husband Ronnie of Fot Worth; grandchildren Ronald Coy Pennington and Rachel Callie Pennington; a sister Patricia (Flurry) Price of Streetman, TX and many wonderful, caring nieces and nephews.Pallbearers will be Ricky Rea, Henry Arant, Freddie Boyett, Eddy Lee, Roger Parish, and Steve Shirey.Honorary Pallbearers will be her Sunday School Class.She requested that in lieu of flowers that memorials be made to the Gideon Bible Distribution Program and/or Shriner Hospitals for Children.
