Funeral services for Edith Burnell Pettis, 93, of Monroe will be held at 2:00 PM, Wednesday, January 13, 2021 at Kilpatrick Funeral Home, Monroe. Rev. Larry Linson will officiate. Interment will follow at Kilpatrick’s Serenity Gardens in West Monroe under the direction of Kilpatrick Funeral Home, Monroe.   Visitation will be from 12:00 PM to 2:00 PM, Wednesday, January 13, 2021 at the funeral home.

Mrs. Pettis passed away January 11, 2021 at St. Francis Medical Center in Monroe. She was born on August 24, 1927 in Crowville, Louisiana. Mrs. Pettis loved her church (Highland Park Baptist Church), the good Lord, and her family. She loved cooking and taking care of others.  She was a retired nurse at St. Francis Hospital.  She is preceded in death by her husband, William Thomas Pettis of 71 years:  parents, James Washington Thornhill and Mary Elizabeth Thornhill, and 11 brothers and sisters.

She is survived by two sons, William S. Pettis and wife Marcia, and Steve Daniel Pettis; grandchildren, William Tyler Pettis and wife Olga, Sandy Bennett and husband Jason, Jennifer Fox and husband Jeff, and Daniel Aaron Pettis and wife Meghan; great-grandchildren, Hannah Boyles, Tucker Pettis, Haley Bennett, David Bennett, Ryder Pettis, A.J. Pettis, Brody Pettis, and Grant Pettis.
