Bob Ford left a message on July 9, 2011:
I worked full time and attended classes. When Dr. Walker handed me my diploma he shook my hand and said, "I'm proud of you, Bob." He was so involved with the students that he knew our names and he knew I put myself through college. He was an inspiration to all.

Dear Walker Family: My husband Lee and I were both students at Northeast when Dr. Walker was President.. In fact, I think we started at the same time-1958. I majored in Education and My husband got his degree in Pharmacy. I went on to receive my MA there also. I will always remember Dr. Walker as an elegant gentleman who always had the good of the students and the university at heart. We know he worked diligently to make the college "the best" it could be. I was proud of Northeast and so was my husband. We felt fortunate to be able to attend and receive our degrees there. Your dad had a great deal to do with instilling that pride in us. We both had excellent professors who taught us well. Your dad was responsible for the hiring of well-qualified, good teachers! The Lord blessed him with a long, good life and he left a wonderful legacy to your families and to our communities in Monroe and West Monroe. May the Lord comfort your hearts in the days ahead. In sincere sympathy, Lee Roy and Camille Adair
