Funeral services for Mr. Douglas Ray Evans, 75, of West Monroe are at 10:00 AM, Tuesday, December 7, 2010, in the Chapel of Kilpatrick Funeral Home of West Monroe. Reverend Larry Ferris and Dennis Wills will officiate. Interment follows at Old Union Cemetery in Columbia, LA under the direction of the Kilpatrick Funeral Home of West Monroe, LA. Mr. Evans was born May 1, 1935 in Rochelle, LA and passed away Dec. 3, 2010 in West Monroe. He was retired from Plymouth Tube as a machine operator and loved to fish and play softball. Mr. Evans enjoyed family life with all of his posterity especially his grandchildren. He was a member of Church of the Nazarene. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Billy Evans and Larry Evans, and his parents Douglas and Ola Mae Evans. Mr. Evans is survived by his wife Margaret Evans; three daughters Cindy Evans Hymer, Susan Evans Ledet and husband Anthony, and Lisa Evans and husband Donnie; son Chuck Evans and wife Donna; three sisters Nita Rasberry, Connie Rasberry, and Rosie Jacola; three grandchildren Angela Harrison, Jeffery Hymer, and Jacob Thompson; and four great grandchildren. Pallbearers are Lavelle McCleland, John Brown, Roy Smith, Ken Howard, Buddy Stokes, and Jesse Harrison. Honorary pallbearers are Jacob Thompson and Charles Alger. Visitation is Monday evening from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM at Kilpatrick Funeral Home of West Monroe, LA.

We are so very sorry about Doug. He was a fine person and we will surely miss him, especially at the high school reunions.

Doug was such a kind and gentle soul - a true Southern gentleman. He will truly be missed by everyone who knew him. Mrs. Evans, Susan, Lisa Chuck and Cindy, I am so sorry to hear of the loss of your loved one. My prayers go out to all of you. It is a sad loss, but such a blessing to know that you will be with him again in Heaven!!

All of our prayers, sympathy, and thoughts are with the family at this difficult time. We all have very special memories of Doug. He will be missed dearly and long remembered. We will treasure our time a few weeks ago that we were able to spend a few days with Doug, Margaret, Susan and Anthony, and all of the family. May God always keep each of you in His tender care.

I've only met one other man that was as pure and heart felt as Doug. That was my Grandfather. Doug reminded me a lot of my grandfather in that he was a very humble man. We've only known Doug a short time and he was always a man whom loved his family, enjoyed time with them, and was always a delight to be around. He will be greatly missed by us, and we will pray for his dear family that they will realize that he is in a much better place with Jesus and in no more pain. I thank GOD that we had the opportunity to have some time with Doug in our lives. He was and always will be a great inspiration to us in the way he lived his life.

He was a great man and will be missed everyday! Love you Ms. Evans and Lisa. Remember the good ole days. Praying everyday for comfort to you!

I was lucky enough to play in a National Tournament with Doug many years ago. Having played against him for so many years, it was a honor to be on his team for a change. A man that I never saw waiver in his character while competing. I am honored to have known Doug Evans. My thoughts and prayers are with the entire Evans Family.

My sincerest condolences to the family of Mr. Doug Evans; a truly great man and friend will be missed but remembered always.

Doug had a huge impact on my life. He taught me by example how a true gentleman should be. He had integrity, was very honest, was considerate, kind, compassionate, and loved life. I enjoyed many hours fishing, playing softball, and even working with Mr. Evans. I have met very few people that could even come close to his caliber. I will truly miss him, but will cherish the memories I have of the times we had forever. I know he is looking for the good fishing spots in Heaven right now. Save a few for me!

It was an honor and a priveledge in knowing you for the short period of time that we all had together. We will miss you and will always and forever remember you in our memories, get togethers, and most of all our hearts. We love you. Dearly your grandkids Mark and Courtney and your great grandkids Elizabeth and Thomas.

Evans Family, We use to go to church with Mr. Doug & Roy played ball with him on the church team. He was always the nicest person. Our prayers are with you Ms. Margaret & the rest of the family.
