Funeral services for Diane Smith will be held at 11:30 A.M. on Wednesday, April 10, 2024, at the gazebo located at 1500 Arkansas Rd, West Monroe, LA 71291, within Hasley Cemetery. Reverend Gary Sapp will lead the service, with interment to follow under the care and direction of Kilpatrick Funeral Homes of West Monroe.
Diane was born on May 18, 1945, in Monroe, Louisiana, and peacefully passed away on March 29, 2024, in Shreveport, Louisiana. She was a cherished member of Broadmoor United Methodist Church in Shreveport. Diane had a fulfilling career as a purchasing agent with the Caddo Parish Sheriff’s Office before retiring. She treasured spending time with friends, engaging in card games, and hosting patio cookouts. Diane was known for making friends wherever she went and found a sense of community in various stages of her life.
As a child, she delighted in playing baseball with friends and cousins. In her younger years, she enjoyed water skiing and was a member of the Caddo Ski Bees. Diane actively supported her daughter’s school activities, forming friendships with many other parents. She was also involved in her homeowner’s association and took pride in her community. In her final year, she resided at The Glen, where she continued to make cherished friends who enriched her life.
Diane’s love for Florida vacations was a cherished part of her life’s experiences. She was preceded in death by her parents, Katherine DeCuir and Chester DeCuir. Diane is survived by her daughter, Julie Cowan, and husband Todd of Rockledge, Florida; grandchildren, Mathew Cowan and wife Cierra, Ashley Cowan; great-grandchildren, Leighton Cowan, Cade Cowan, and numerous other cherished family members and friends.
