Memorial services for Diana Rose Carpenter Jones of Monroe, LA will be held at 2:00 PM, Wednesday, December 17, 2014 at First United Methodist Church of Monroe in the Fellowship Hall, 3900 Loop Road with Rev. Lynn Malone officiating. There will be a visitation from 1:00 PM until the time of service at 2:00 PM in the Parlor of the Church.Diana was born in Texas to Olive Virginia Morris and Kent Kinard Carpenter. She became an All-Star basketball player and went on to be elected Head Cheerleader at Texas Western University. She was a highly engaged member of the Zeta Tau Alpha Sorority, and after graduating with a Bachelor of Arts, worked as an Interior Designer in El Paso, Texas, before being selected to join American Airlines as a flight attendant.After briefly living in New York City, she returned to the South and married the love of her life, James Murrell “Mike” Jones, Jr. and raised their 2 daughters in Epps, Louisiana. Diana was an office manager, Garden Club Society member and honorary Travel Coordinator for both of her daughters' many athletic teams.She was also an accomplished writer, poet and artist as well as an avid traveler. She skied in Colorado, went scuba diving in Central America and para-sailed over the beaches of Florida. She loved reading, painting, gardening and caring for the many animals she adopted over the years.Diana's greatest love, however, was her family, and she devoted her life to her children and her husband. Through her love, she will live on in the hearts and memories of all who knew her.Diana is preceded in death by her brother, Bryan Carpenter, of Denver Colorado. She is survived by her husband, Mike Jones, of Epps, Louisiana, her daughters Dania Jones and Samantha Jones Bahr, both of Monroe, Louisiana, her brother, Gary Carpenter, of San Diego, California, her sister, Mayola, of Colorado Springs, Colorado, and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
