Memorial service will be held for Dennis Hubbard, of West  Monroe, Tuesday, October 10, 2023 at 7:00 P.M.in the chapel of Kilpatrick Funeral Home West Monroe. Visitation will be held from 6:00P.M. until service time under the care and direction of Kilpatrick Funeral Home West Monroe.

Dennis Hubbard of West Monroe was born November 1, 1946 in Monroe, LA and passed away October 5, 2023 in Monroe, LA. He was a veteran of the United States Marine Corps. Dennis enjoyed hunting, fishing and loved his dog Bella.

Dennis was preceded in death by his parents Palma and Christine Bennett Hubbard; son Dennis Lane Hubbard, Jr.; mother of his children Peggy “Joy” Walker; brothers Harold Hubbard and Bruce Hubbard.

Dennis is survived by his wife Cheryl Hubbard; daughters Lisa Lawrence and husband Jason and Cynthia “Cindy” Harper; son Robert Taylor Hubbard and wife Patricia; many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

One of my most fond memories from my childhood is of Dennis. He was in the kitchen at my family's house when we lived in Bastrop. He was making a pot of gumbo in a pressure cooker. He put the lid on, but the pressure from the pot blew out the stopper and gumbo shot up hitting the ceiling and covering the area with green gumbo. There was a spot in the ceiling for years afterward despite us scrubbing and painting the ceiling more than once. I still laugh about that night to this day. Dennis had a way of always making us laugh.
