Delores Cobbs Youngblood, long time resident of Monroe and native of Many, LA, passed away on Monday evening, August 23, at Cherry Ridge Guest Care Center in Bastrop. Mrs. Youngblood, who was 89 years old, was preceded in death by her husband of 59 years, Kermit Lloyd Youngblood; a daughter-in-law, Glenda Youngblood; and by a brother and sister, George Davis Cobbs of Jena and Rachel Anna Bryan of Baton Rouge. Surviving family members include her sister, Doris Andries Davenport of Baton Rouge, and her sons and daughters: David Youngblood Monroe, Phillip and Edwina Youngblood Heath, TX, Doris Shaughnessy West Monroe, Kane and Michael Gathings New London, NC, Lane and Lewis Grady La Place, LA, Mary and Bodie Spicer West Monroe, and Kay and Ed Coleman Cleveland, MS. “Mimi” is also survived by 23 grandchildren and 50 great-grandchildren. The entire family would like to express their deep gratitude to the management and staff of Cherry Ridge Guest Care Center for the loving care she received while residing there. Mrs. Youngblood was a retired medical secretary, having worked at E. A. Conway Memorial Hospital for 26 years. A devoted Catholic, she had been active at Our Lady of Fatima Church for many years and was a member of the Altar Society. Visitation will be held at Kilpatrick's Funeral Home in West Monroe on Thursday, August 26, from 5 to 8 PM. The funeral service will be held at 2 PM Friday, August 27, at Mulhearn Memorial Park Chapel & Mausoleum, with Father Richard Norsworthy and Rev. Bodie Spicer officiating.
