In 1963, Dave graduated from Neville High School in Monroe. He played in the band at Neville and, while there, was honored to play at the Inauguration of President John F. Kennedy. After high school, Dave went on to Louisiana Tech University, playing in the band and earning a Business degree. Working his way through college, Dave worked with cars and ran the Ruston Movie Theater.
Dave loved his family, playing golf, being out on the boat, going on vacation, singing in the church and community choirs and playing in the Monroe Community Band. He was always quick with a joke, an amazing story and a wonderful smile.
He loved music and band from elementary school through college and later in the Monroe Community Band. In a special moment for Dave, he was honored to direct the Monroe Symphony Orchestra for one of their Christmas pieces. Dave was also in the Methodist Church Choir for many years, as well as the Monroe Symphony Choir. He had the incredible experience of singing with the church choir at Carnegie Hall.
God called Dave into the Gospel Ministry at Temple Baptist Church in 1962. He joined First Methodist after he met Mom. He was a member of the Friendship Sunday School class for almost 50 years. In addition, Dave taught Sunday School to 5th and 6th graders and Junior High students.
Dad enjoyed fishing, boating, singing, dancing and golfing. He loved people and his work of selling cars. He had many return customers and always went the extra mile for them. He won many awards for the service he provided.
Dad was a member of the Optimist club, Symphony Choir and Monroe Community Band. He mentored people who were facing difficulties in their lives.
Dave was a loving husband, proud and supportive of his children and grandchildren. He lived a full and happy life. We all have very special memories of him that we will hold in our hearts forever.
