Funeral services for Mr. Colonel Hershel "Buck" Hobgood, 84, of Monroe, will be held at 2:00 P.M. Saturday, October 13, 2007 at House of Prayer International located on Frontage Road, Monroe, with Pastors Eugene Brown, Ron Brown, John Colbaugh and Lindle Stewart officiating. Internment will follow at Riverview Cemetery in Monroe, LA, under the direction of Kilpatrick Funeral Home of Monroe, LA. Mr. Hobgood, owner of Buck's Furniture Shop, went to be with Jesus on October 9, 2007. He was devoted to his church… always providing a helping hand to anyone who asked. He loved his country and served proudly in World War II. He is survived by his precious wife of 61 years, Elaine Hobgood; a sister Myrtis Pearce; 4 daughters, Linda Wilson, Sandra Campbell, Karen Laughlin, and Gwen Lawson; son-in-law Randy Lawson; grandchildren, Bobby Loyd, Bill and Cheryl Loyd, Scott Smith, Emily Sasser, Jeff and Anna Laughlin, Kara Laughlin, Lauren Lawson, Chad Lawson and Hunter Lawson; three Great grandchildren, Charlie Laughlin, Sarah and Michael Loyd; Mickey Lofton, whom Mr. Hobgood thought of as his son, wife Angie, and their son Beaux. Serving as pallbearers will be the grandsons. Honorary pallbearers will be Mickey Lofton, Randy Lawson, Johnny Pearce, Lamar Pearce, Mark Anderson, Mike Anderson, Durwood Waldrop, Tim Waldrop, Ray Goodson, Carl Tidwell, Robert A. Anderson, Steve Anderson, Joe Ojeda and Alvis Arnold. Dad leaves many dear friends. He fought the fight and won the battle and he will see you in heaven. As dad would say to this, "Good." You are known by many names from your family, Husband, Sweetheart, Daddy, Dad, Dad Buck, and Papa. You will always be remembered as a strong and honest person for many people. You are now in the arms of Jesus. You will always be remembered.
