Graveside services for Clayton O. Smith, Jr., 86 of Monroe, will be held at 3:00 P.M., Thursday, October 28, 2021 at Ogden Cemetery in Ogden, Louisiana.

Mr. Smith was born on July 24, 1935 in Monroe, Louisiana and passed away on October 25, 2021 in Monroe, LA. He was a longtime member of Victory Baptist Church. Mr. Smith retired with 31 years of service at Selig Manufacturing as a foreman. After retirement he proudly served with the Ouachita Parish Sheriff’s Office for 25 years. Mr. Smith was preceded in death by his wife of 56 years, Lynn Smith.

Mr. Smith is survived by two sons, David Smith and Donnie Smith; two grandchildren, Nathan Smith and Ashlee Smith.

The family requests that anyone that comes to the funeral; please wear your “ugliest” flannel shirt in honor of Mr. Smith who had a terrible fashion sense.

In our family we knew Mr Smith through the sheriffs department and the court house my fatjer in law knew him for many years, he was a good man I got called for jury duty when he was working at the courthouse, he made sure I knew everything that was going in the jury process so I would not be surprised,he made sure if I needed anything he got it he was a very good deputy and man.My husbands family loved him , all of us in the family pray that God will put peace in your hearts as you know he is with God.
