Clarence Roberts was born August 18, 1922, in St. Louis, Missouri, grew up in Canton, Ohio, and died on July 17, 2011, in Monroe. Clarence was preceded in death by his parents, Franklin Thomas and Marie Roberts, and his sisters Elaine Roberts and Frances Roberts. Clarence was known as Clancy to his family and colleagues. He graduated from McKinley High School and eventually enlisted with the Army Air Corps. He was qualified and trained to fly B-24 planes. His tour of duty was with 15th Air Force in Naples, Italy, and he flew over 44 combat missions. After his service, Clancy enrolled at Ohio State University, where he was president of the Stadium Club Dorm. At Ohio State he met his wife, Helen M. Ruth of Zanesville, Ohio. They were married on December 18, 1948. He graduated with a degree in biochemistry and then was accepted into medical school at Ohio State. He chose anesthesia as his profession and completed his residency at Southern Baptist Hospital in New Orleans. Clancy and his family moved to Monroe in 1958, to join Dr. Stan Mintz. Together they founded Anesthesia Associates of Monroe which has served St. Francis Hospital and Glenwood. Clancy supported St. Frederick High School, where his children attended. When Clancy retired from his anesthesia practice, he made time for woodworking, fishing the Gulf Coast, traveling with his wife Helen, and celebrating the marriages of his five children and the arrival of six grandchildren. Clancy was a deep thinker by nature, a do-er by practice. Even though infarct dementia took its toll on Clancy in the past few years, he always knew his family and loved “the most beautiful woman in the world,” his wife Helen. Dr. Roberts is survived by his wife Helen, his children Dr. Karen L. Repasky of Longview, Texas; Dr. Thomas Roberts of Conway, Arkansas; Dr. Susan Roberts of Austin, Texas; Mrs. Troy Cynthia King of Shawnee, Oklahoma; and Mr. Eric F. Roberts of Fort Worth, Texas. His grandchildren are Rebecca Elaine Luke, Gregory Thomas Repasky, Benjamin Thomas Roberts, Samuel Franklin Roberts, Elizabeth Riannon King, Delaney Christine Vail, and Wyatt Corbin Roberts. A visitation will be held 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM, Wednesday, July 20, 2011 and a funeral service at 11:00 AM, Thursday, July 21, 2011 at Kilpatrick Funeral Homes at 1200 Lamy Lane, Monroe.
