It is so hard to believe that Cheryl has passed on to eternity. I will miss hearing her voice on the other line at the Police dept. I will miss hearing her call me "baby", whenever I would call to speak to my mom. My deepest sympathies and my most heartfelt prayers are with the Sears family and friends. I pray the peace of God would keep you today and in the days to come.
Beth Redl left a message on August 27, 2010:
We started missing you when you left at the beginning of the year, and the prayers never stopped. God just had other plans than those of us who weren't ready to let you go. We will always hold you dear to our hearts and cherish the memories we made. There won't be another like you Cheryl, until we meet again precious.
Peace of mind is a call away. We're here when you need us most.

I would like to send my condolence to the Sears family. In times like this I reflect on the God's promise in John 5;28,29 of a resurrection of our dead loved ones. I hope this note brings you comfort at this time.

Perhaps they are not the stars, but rather openings in Heaven where the love of our lost ones pours through and shines down upon us to let us know they are happy.

My best friend, I miss you more than I can say. We had so much left to do. I guess that is going to have to wait. From the time we met, we were best friends. Nothing has changed that. People always thought that we were sisters. They were right. There is an empty spot in my heart right now. I love you, Turtle.

Larry Linson left a message on August 26, 2010:
What a joy Cheryl has been to all who knew her. We have had many great laughs as we talked of funny stories and tried to recite Ernest T. Bass in singing "Jumped in the Sack, Sack to Black...." She use to call me "Mucky" all the time. I thought it was a sweet name like "honey or baby." One day I looked it up in the dictionary and it was defined as, "a rich dark moist manure type soil." When I read her the definition, she smiled as she knew the whole time. I will miss the way she brought laughter into the work place. She called herself "Precious" and that she was!
Sandra Smith left a message on August 26, 2010:
Another child of God has been called home, It is hard to believe we will never hear that voice again taking calls from the citizens and dispatching calls to the officers and waiting on them to get to and from their calls safely. It is hard to imagine the conversations that have been passed between us will no longer exist. The jovial laughter that has once graced the radio room in between calls. The song a grown woman sings with a three year old that has a southern drawl like Ms Shurllll!!!! and the two of them singing the Shrek song. It is hard to imagine the times when we cried together and laughed together and by the time our shift had ended we were in another place because we survived it together. I take consolation in knowing that when Cheryl moved to God's home on Monday afternoon she was called because God needs good dispatchers too, he needs a woman that will laugh and cry, He wants a dispatcher that has left her mark on so many of us in so many ways. Im gonna miss my co worker of 19 years, but I am also rejoicing because she is in her new home, she has her headset on, her phone ready to answer Gods radio and her voice ready to say This is Gods House Cheryl Sears speaking and I am here now to serve in his Kingdom. KKA271. And I hear the voice of her saying come all of my family and my MPD family and join me Im waiting for you all and we will meet again.

Our prayers go out to Cheryl's family. Cheryl took care of us and watched over us. I will never forget all the times I went into communications to see Cheryl and greeted her "Hello Mrs. Mucky" to which she always replied "I am Precious". She is precious to us all, we love her, and we will miss her. Rest in the arms of Jesus my friend.

Cheryl and I went to school together from elementary all through high school. She and I were born on the same day and I will always remember her fondly. She was a great gal with a funny and lovable personality. My deepest condolences to her family. God Bless.
Susan McMillian left a message on August 25, 2010:
Don't grieve for me, for now I'm free. I'm following the path God laid for me. I took God's hand when I heard the call; I turned my back and left it all. I could not stay another day, to laugh, to love, to work or play. Tasks left undone must stay that way, I fould that place at the close of day. If my parting has left a void, then fill it with remembered joy. A friendship shared, a laugh, a kiss. Ah yes, these things, I too, will miss. Be not burdened with times of sorrow, I wish you the sunshine of tomorrow. My life's been full, I savored much, good friends, good times, a loved one's touch. Perhaps my time seemed all too brief; don't lengthen it now with undue grief. Lift up your heart and share with me- God wanted me now, God set me free. We love and miss you "mama" Cheryl!
