Memorial services for Cherie Jackson Moncrief, 72, of West Monroe will be held 3:00 PM, Sunday, August 8, 2021 in the chapel of Kilpatrick Funeral Home West Monroe. Visitation will be held from 1:00 PM until 3:00 PM at Kilpatrick Funeral Home.
Cherie was born August 22, 1948 and passed away August 1, 2021 in Monroe, LA. Cherie started her medical career at age 15 years old as a Candy Striper at Glenwood Regional Medical Center. She became a LPN in 1974 and received her RN degree 20 years later in 1994 from Grambling State University. She worked in the surgery department at St. Francis Medical Center for 22 years from which she retired. She also worked part time at Glenwood Regional Medical Center in the Nursery/NICU as well as in other medical clinics, and PrimeStar Home Health Agency later in life. Cherie loved life, had many friends and cared deeply for her pets Gabby, Bella, Niki, and Micki. Her world centered around her family, Catholic religion and her job as a nurse.
Cherie is survived by her daughter Yvette Perkins Redman and husband Michael; 2 grandchildren Katie and Trase Redman; nephew Billy Cooper Jr. and wife Jackie and their 4 children Kennedy, Jackson, Aubrey and Holden; aunt Jane Fewell and husband Richard Fewell; cousins Tracye Theriot and husband Andy and their children, and Richard Lee Fewell, Jr. and wife Judy and their children; brother Jay Wayne Jackson and his son Josh Jackson.
Cherie wished to give special acknowledgement to her best friend, Helen Buentello Anderson for being there for her through all important phases of her life. Also to her sweet friends Cindy Fisher, Colleen Dement and Peaches McKnight.
A special thanks to Dr. Ron Hammett and his nurse Kim, Rita Zuber NP who was also a dear friend.
