Funeral services for Carson Pridgen, 83, of West Monroe will be held at 11:00 A.M., Thursday, August 3, 2023 in the chapel of Kilpatrick Funeral Home West Monroe. Rev. Bruce Rux and Rev. Philip Azad will officiate. Interment will follow at Roselawn Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be held from 10:00 A.M. until 11:00 A. M. at Kilpatrick Funeral Home West Monroe.
Carson was born July 14, 1940 in Natchitoches, LA and passed away July 27, 2023 in West Monroe. He was preceded in death by his son, Greg Pridgen; parents Robert and Hettie Pridgen; brothers Albert, Glen, Jerry, Harold, Murray and Charles Pridgen; sister Lillian Brossett; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Rev. Everette and Beverly Johnson; special friend Coach Trent Melder.
Carson retired as a sales manager from Greene Welding Supply after 38 years of service. He was a long-time member of First Church of the Nazarene and current member of Graceminster Presbyterian Church. He earned numerous medals in Track and Field, and won several state championships. He was an avid fisherman and loved catching, cooking, eating them, and retelling fishing stories. He was a lifetime LSU fan.
Carson is survived by his loving wife of 62 years, Ashley Johnson Pridgen; daughter Gretchen Ashley Pridgen; daughter-in-law Janet Marie Pridgen; grandchildren Justice and Jake Pridgen; brother Reed Pridgen and wife Gloria; sister Joanne Lorenz; brother-in-law and sister-in-law Noel and Tammy Johnson; host of nieces and nephews.
Serving as pallbearers will be Scott Johnson, Eugene Pridgen, David Roark, Henry Hansen, Melvin McPherson, Ed Langham, Olen Durr, Harold “Buck” Bounds. Honorary pallbearers will be Billy Wilhite, Robert Murphy, Barry Priest, David Johnson, Steve Watson and James Free.
The family wishes to thank the Cornerstone Staff for their exceptional care for Carson; the staff at Caring Hands Hospice, especially Andrea and Tasha for their respectful loving care; Physicians William Smith, Terry Deese, Butch Dunn, Gregory Sampognaro, Larry Olinde; and the staff at Willis-Knighton Shreveport.
