Carolyn was born on December 24, 1939 in Monroe, Louisiana where she attended Ouachita Parish High School. Carolyn, known as Mamaw to almost everyone, was loved dearly by her husband of 64 years. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother and friend. Carolyn assisted her mother in her beauty salon and was a talented seamstress who enjoyed creating fashions for her family. Carolyn and Denson briefly moved to North Carolina where they owned and operated a Bonanza Restaurant before moving back to their home of West Monroe. After spending many years raising her children, Carolyn served as Assistant Director of Day Care at Parkview Baptist Church and as a Home Health aide and private sitter. Although she was fond of reading, shopping, travel and Westerns, her passion was caring for her family and friends. She so loved taking care of others, especially her grandchildren who were her pride and joy. An animal lover, Carolyn always had many pets growing up and cherished each one. She had such a sweet spirit and could light up a room with her smile. Carolyn was a member of Mount Vernon Baptist Church for many years before following her children to First Baptist Church West Monroe where she also became a member of the New Directions/Dioko Life Group.
The family would like to thank St. Francis Medical Center and Landmark Rehab for all their care and assistance. We are also extremely grateful for all the prayers and love and support from precious friends. A very special thanks to our Gardens at Georgia Tucker family as they showered Mamaw with such wonderful care and love.
