Tim Coats Former Student/College Pastor at Ridge Avenue Baptist left a message on October 4, 2023:
My most fondest memory of Calton was on a Sunday morning as the worship service was ending. I, along with Robin Roark, Associate Pastor, would stand at the alter and pray for ones who had prayer request. One day, Calton walked down front and said " Tim, you are always here praying for others. I want to pray for you for your tireless love of students and your faithfulness to service others." Thank meant the world to me.

I was so blessed to have been able to get to know him. I was only with him for a few weeks, but I pray I was able to make them better for him and his family. He touched me with his beautiful smile and kind words. I could tell he was an amazing man of god. A glorious husband, father and grandfather. The love and happiness on his face when Sharon walked into the room was magical. I know he will be watching over his family until they are gathered together again. I could see the pride and love he had for them. And I believe it is eternal.

I loved this sweet man so much! As a child, i spent several days per week playing at their home, going on vacations with them, singing with Sharon as he played the guitar. He was audience to our dance routines and a wonderful Christian influence as a 2nd father to me. He will be missed, but im confident that he is rejoicing with our Lord Jesus. Praying for Sharon, Barry, Shane, Brandon, Mathew, & Joe, as well as the 4 beautiful grandaughters.
