To the Duke Family-I met Mr Wilbur many years ago at his Barber Shop in Monroe. He made a lasting impression on me and as I have grown and moved around he was often on my mind. I always enjoyed visiting the shop and listening to his stories and gathering his quips about life and living. My heart is heavy learning of his passing and I hope you will accept my condolences. Sincerely, Janna Johnson Fugler - formerly Sunrise Coffee Company

I was so sorry to read of Wilbur's passing. He had been my barber for years. We always visited while he cut my hair. We talked about gardening and he gave me several tips. I will sincerely miss him.

I am sad and sorrowful for all of us but especially Mr. Wilbur's precious family who I love as my own. Mr. Wilbur was a great man, incredible musician, and handsome barber whose striped barber pole in Lakeshore I will never forget. I will always smile when I think of it. He (along with Miss Dee Duke) made a family of beautiful, thoughtful, kind, caring children and taught them wonderful values who will carry his legacy; the kind of legacy this world needs more of. He was an intriguing man; comical, adventurous, artistic, interesting, hard-working with an old fashion work ethic. He loved his family and his country with all his heart... and this kind of man, Mr. C. Wilbur Duke, is the kind of star whose light will continue to shine brightly in our hearts forever. He will be greatly missed. They don't make 'em like Mr. Wilbur Duke anymore. Again, all my love, thoughts and prayers to each of his children and grands, and to The Lovely Miss Dee, the precious and beautiful mother of his children. Love, Tracy

Wilbur was an amazing musician. He played music with my Dad, Red Bradley for years. He cut my dad's hair, my husbands hair, my father-in-law's hair, my boys hair and the first one to cut my grandson's Josh's hair. Jeremy, my son took my dad's fiddle and my grandfather's fiddle to Wilbur not too long ago. Wilbur tuned them and felt honored to play them. Jeremy enjoyed listening to Wilbur play again. I will sure miss him. He was one of the last of my dad's friends to leave us. I'll never, ever forget his mustache.Wilbur and Daddy will get to play music together again. Rest in peace.
