Joyce lived her life as a devout Christian & lifelong member of Mt. Ararat Baptist Church in Downsville, LA. Joyce was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend to many. She left us to join her husband, J.L. Guice in heaven on January 28th, 2022. Joyce was born the 11th child of 13 to Arkie Owens Albritton & James Howel Albritton on May 23rd, 1938. After attending Northeast (ULM), she soon left to marry her high school sweetheart J.L. She spent her early married years as a military spouse and had their first of two children at Travis Air Force Base. Later they spent many happy years together traveling as a pipeliner’s family. Finally settling down back in Point, she found a career with the US postal service. She loved this opportunity to serve her community and took great pride in her route. In her spare time, she loved to work in the garden and tend to animals, of which she had a special passion for dogs. Most of all she loved her grandchildren, and rarely missed a chance to attend their sporting events & livestock shows.
She was preceded in death by not only her parents and husband, but ten of her siblings and one grandchild, Chase Cowen. Left to cherish her memory is her son Johnny L Guice (Donna), daughter Pam Guice Cowen (Johnny), grandchildren Cody Cowen (Haily), Jordan Guice (Devin), Faith Guice Pearson (Jacob), great grandchildren, Christian Cowen, Hayden Cowen, Helen Guice, Clara Guice and Bryson Guice. Her surviving siblings are brothers Jimmy Albritton and Jerry Joe Albritton.
