Robert “Bobby” Surratt, 64, of Monroe, passed away on Tuesday, April 2nd, 2024, after a short illness.
Funeral services for Bobby will be held at 2:00 P.M., Monday, April 8, 2024 in the chapel of Kilpatrick Funeral Home in Monroe. Interment will follow at Mulhearn Memorial Park under the care and direction of Kilpatrick Funeral Homes in Monroe. Visitation will be held prior to the service from 12 Noon until time of service.
Bobby was born on March 21, 1960 in Monroe, Louisiana to Leon Surratt and Billye Surratt.
At a very young age, Bobby developed a love of sports and carried this passion into all of his adult years. As the youngest of three siblings that attended Neville High School, Bobby was a devoted fan of the Neville Tiger Sports Program, especially football and remembering even the most meticulous stats of every football game Neville played for decades. He was a true historian regularly providing details of regular season and playoff games, as well as, individual player stats to settle disagreements between fans or just for the love of the game.
Throughout his teen years, Bobby became fascinated with music, and he was particularly drawn to the King of Rock and Roll, Elvis Presley. Over the years, Bobby maintained a significant vinyl collection of Presley’s music often impersonating the King by performing for family and friends when prompted. As an adult, Bobby also developed a devotion to his golf game and played as often as possible.
Bobby was known among his family and friends as a very kind and generous man with a heart of gold. If you were in need, he would do anything in his power to help in any way possible. He was a loving father, grandfather (Known as “Pop Pop”), beloved son, brother, and uncle with a gentle, warm nature and always wearing a smile. His genuine heart and loving spirit will forever be remembered and cherished by all who loved him.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Leon Surratt, 78; Billye Jean Hollis Surratt, 93; and his brother-in-law, Stuart Gordon Dunaway, 51. Bobby is survived by his son, Jarrod and granddaughter, Aria Rose; his step-son, Jamey Allen; his brother, Dennis Surratt and wife, Holly ; sisters, Cindy Surratt Dunaway, Charlotte Giglio, and Ef’Anne Strumpell; nephew and nieces, Michael Surratt; Mandi Dunaway Minchew; Casey Surratt Ebey; Michelle Dunaway Burkett; and numerous great nephews and nieces. Bobby is also survived by his companion of many years, Mary Williams; and beloved caregiver and mother of his granddaughter, Taylor McConaughey.
Pallbearers are Mike Surratt, Kade Minchew, Austin Allen, David Wade, Josh Ebey and Mike Goodwin. Honorary Pallbearer is Jamey Allen.
