Services for Mrs. Bobbie H. Jones, who died Sunday, August 5th, will be held at McGuire United Methodist Church, West Monroe, at 10:00am on Wednesday, August 8th followed by a graveside service at Camp Ground Cemetery, Bienville, Louisiana with the Rev. Rick Willis, pastor of First United Methodist Church, West Monroe and Bro. Waymond Warren, pastor of Fair Park Baptist Church, West Monroe officiating. Mrs. Jones was a member of McGuire and a former member of First United Methodist Church, West Monroe, where she served as church secretary for twenty-three years and was a long-time member of the Fellowship Sunday School Class and the Chapel Choir. She also served on the Evangelism Committee and assisted with the Senior Program. Bobbie was born on May 30, 1920, to William Warren and Willie Blume Horton. She was the granddaughter of the late J. Henry and Appie McInnis Blume, a pioneer family of Castor, LA. Bobbie will be buried at Camp Ground Cemetery near Bienville, LA, the small town where she grew up and which she loved so dearly. As a youngster she attended the Bienville Methodist Episcopal Church South, where she was baptized in a summer revival in 1932. She graduated from Bienville High School in 1937 and later from Meadows Draughn Business College in Shreveport, LA. Her secretarial career began in 1941 and ended in 1988, when she retired to enjoy her grandson. She married Travis B. Jones on April 5, 1943. Both were members of founding families of Bienville Parish. Travis was in the Air Force, so Bobbie traveled with him to various states and Air Bases during World War II. These years were special even though the war was raging. Travis preceded Bobbie in death. Survivors include her daughter, Mary Jan Jones McCardle; son-in-law Charles H. McCardle, Jr.; and grandson Jonathan C. McCardle, all of West Monroe, and nephew Murphy Blume Horton of Shreveport. Pallbearers will be Herbert Otwell, Blythe McDuffie, Joey Telano, Gary Stringer, Bryce Humphries and Brod Kennedy. Visitation will be Tuesday, August 7th from 5pm to 8pm at Kilpatrick≠s Funeral Home in West Monroe. Bobbie will be remembered for her smile and joy of being a part of the West Monroe community for so many years. She will be dearly missed by her family and friends.
