Officiating the services will be Dr. Michael Hawley. Interment will follow at Weldon Cemetery near Bernice, LA . under the direction of Kilpatrick Funeral Home in Ruston. Mr. Thompson was born November 21, 1932 and passed away June 21, 2015.Mr. Thompson was a member of Emmanuel Baptist Church. He was retired from Arkla Gas and Ruston State Bank. He served as a member of the Lincoln Parish Sheriff Department S.C.O.P.E.He is preceded in death by his parents, Dewey and Mattie Thompson and sisters, Maxine Williams and Helen Simmons.He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Shirley Thompson of Ruston; Sons: Marty Thompson and wife Charity of Waxahachie, TX; Mike Thompson of Ruston, LA; Grandchildren: Justin Thompson, Luke Thompson, Trevor Thompson, Ashlyn Denney and Justin Risk. Great-grandchildren: Harper Rue Thompson and Clover Rye Thompson; Sister: Carolyn Allgood of Summerfield , La; Adopted son: John Boyle of Caster, LA; and Special Friend: Janet Turner of Dubach, LA. Numerous nieces and nephews. Visitation will be held from 5-7 PM Monday, June 22, 2015 at the chapel of Kilpatrick Funeral Home in Ruston.Pallbearers will be members of the Lincoln Parish Sheriff S.C.O.P.E division.Online condolence may be sent to the family at www.kilpatrickfuneralhomes.com

I will always treasure his kindness and helpfulness with my mother when she was living nearby as well as his advice to me.
