Billy C. Shields Kilpatrick Funeral Home Ruston, LA Billy C. Shields of Beverly Hills, Florida and formerly of Ruston and Monroe died on March 9, 2012 after a short illness. Born in 1923, he lived a full life. Following high school, he married Ruby Valine Ambrose whom he had known since he was 9 years old. He joined the U.S. Army when the U.S. entered World War II serving in the 361st Special Services Engineers. He served in the European Theater and was in the Philippines preparing for the invasion of Japan. He was part of the Occupation Force stationed in Japan before his release. After WWII, he returned to civilian life and resumed his career with Cities Service Oil Company Citgo where he worked for over 40 years rising to head of the Auditing Department. He was preceded in death by his mother, Susie Glenn Morgan Shields, father, Hugh Shields and his oldest son, Billy Michael Shields. He is survived by his son, Gary Shields and daughters -in-law Carol Shields and Margaret Shields as well as 4 grandchildren: Jennifer Gunter, Melissa Lewis, Mary Shields and Billy Wayne Shields and 6 great grandchildren.. He is also survived by his sister, Ella Jane Shields Holtmann and numerous nieces and nephews. There will be a viewing at Kilpatrick Funeral Home in Ruston, La on Saturday, March 17, 2012 from 9:30 to 11:30 AM followed by a graveside service at New Hope Cemetery, Choudrant, La.
