Beverly Joy Stephenson CanterburyKilpatrick Funeral HomeRuston, LA Funeral services for Mrs. Beverly Joy Stephenson Canterbury, age 58, of Arcadia, LA. will be held at 10:00 AM Thursday, July 8, 2010 at the First Baptist Church in Arcadia, LA. with Rev. Jeff Hoffman  officiating assisted by Jerry Squyres.  Interment will follow at Oak Grove Cemetery under the direction of Kilpatrick Funeral Home in Ruston, LA. Mrs. Canterbury was born April 7, 1952 and passed away July 5, 2010.She was preceded in death by her father and mother Francis F. and Joyce Defreese Stephenson. Mrs. Canterbury was a member of the First Baptist Church in Arcadia, LA. While attending Louisiana Tech University, she was also a member of the Sigma Kappa Sorority. Beverly worked as a Curriculum Strategist at Simsboro Elementary, received the Lincoln Parish Teacher of the Year Award, was a presenter at numerous educational workshops throughout the area, and belonged to the Philanthropic Educational Organization. She is survived by her husband, Mike Canterbury of Arcadia, LA; daughter: Lindsey Selucky and husband Kevin of Cabot, AR; grandsons: Sean Selucky and Austin Selucky also of Cabot, AR; sister: Fran Stephenson Squyres and husband Jerry of Pearland, TX; step- brother: Jim Perkins and wife Cindy of New Iberia, LA.  brother-in-law: Barry Canterbury and wife Donna Lynn of Simsboro, LA; sisters-in-laws: Debbie Cardwell and husband Ronnie of Mandeville, LA, and  Jane Wade and husband Bobby of North Little Rock, AR; and  numerous nieces and nephews.  The family would like to send a special thank you to the extended family, friends, and caregivers. Pallbearers will be Brian Canterbury, Jeremy Alexander, Nick Wade, Mark Stephenson, John Chris Stephenson, and Marcus Upchurch. Memorials may be made to the Volunteers of America, 360 Jordan St. Shreveport, LA 71101 or organizations of your choice. Visitation will be held from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM Wednesday, July 7, 2010 at Kilpatrick Funeral Home in Ruston, LA.
