Betty Brinson was born January 20, 1936 in Mize, Ms and was a resident of Caldwell Parish and passed from this life on February 26, 2024. Betty was a loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother.. She was born to John Matthew Bishop, Sr. and Gettie Cook Bishop. Betty was raised with her sister Nell Gene Bishop and Minnie Bynum; brothers, Willie and Johnny Bishop. Later her parents moved to Monroe, Louisiana and she married William (Billy) Brinson. They had 3 boys in whom they instilled the value of family and a good work ethic. As Billy started his own plumbing business, she helped him to become the backbone of Brinson Plumbing. Helping Billy with the business and creating a home for her 3 sons, she took on a lot of responsibilities to help create a stable life for her family.
Then in August 1976 they bought a place called the China Farm in West Monroe. On the farm, she took to the business of selling pecans when the crops became ready for harvest. Each year Billy took care of the plumbing business and the pecan trees. With David, Steve, Gary and their families they settled into creating a good family oriented business that would be followed by a crawfish business. During this time Billy and Betty would have crawfish boils to spend time and fellowship with family and friends. The two of them helped create a lot of good memories.
Betty was preceded in death by her husband William (Billy) Brinson; parents Johnny and Gettie Bishop; brother Willie Bishop; sister Nell Gene Bishop and Minnie Bynum and nephew Matt Bishop.
Betty is survived by her sons, David Brinson and wife Attie, Steve Brinson and wife Judy, Gary Brinson and wife Lisa of Columbia; brother Johnny Bishop and girlfriend Tina of Calhoun; 6 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren. Betty’s family has always been the joy of her life. She loved it when she would see all of them and it would bring a smile to her face.
Betty was a caregiver to many through the years. She was plain spoken and you always knew where you stood with her. Her life is a celebration and all who knew her were blessed by her presence.
Honoring Betty as pallbearers will be Travis Brinson, Brandon Brinson, Zachary Brinson, Brad Borden, Scott Boyd and Kevin Carr
