Bernice Andrews Colvin Kilpatrick Funeral Home Ruston, LA Bernice Andrews Colvin, 97, passed away Wednesday, December 18, 2013 at Princeton Place Nursing Home in Ruston, LA., Graveside services will be held at Pines Memorial Garden in Ruston at 2:00 PM on Sunday, December 22, 2013. Officiating the service will be Brian Mercer. Bernice was born May 21, 1916 in Hilly, LA. She was a resident of Ruston, LA for the past 33 years and was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church. To all that knew her, Bernice was known for her cooking and home-making skills. She was a master at a “dab” of this and a “touch” of that. She will always be remembered for the down-home meals she prepared. Family and friends never left the table hungry. I guess you could say she knew her way around the kitchen, and she made it look so easy. Bernice was preceded in death by her parents: Louis Monroe Andrews and Rena Upchurch Andrews; and her husband: Emmett L. Colvin; Siblings: 6 brothers and 2 sisters. Bernice is survived by her children: Larry Colvin and wife Jean of Maumelle, AR; Bruce Colvin and wife Deby of Parkers Chapel, AR; Paul Colvin and wife Linda of Choudrant, LA.; grand children: Michele Schindler, Andy Colvin, Matt Colvin, Brittany Kendrick, and Jason Colvin; great grand children: Joshua Schindler, Noah Shindler, Riley Schindler, Paige Schindler, Callie Kendrick, Sawyer Kendrick, Baylee Colvin, Emmy Colvin, Grayson Colvin, and Harper Colvin. The family wishes to express their gratitude and appreciation to Dr. Mark Blackwelder, Dr Billy Smith, and their staffs for the care they have given Bernice through the years. Special thanks are given to Princeton Place where she has been a resident for the past 7 years. The nurses and staff were so caring, and the family thanks each of you. Your compassion and professional care will never be forgotten. Online condolences may be sent to the family at www.kilparickfuneralhomes.com
