Bennie D. “Pete” Freeman was born on May 21, 1943 and passed away peacefully at his home in Farmerville, Louisiana on October 30, 2022 after a lengthy illness. He was surrounded by his family at the time of his passing. Visitation will be at the Rocky Branch Community Center in Rocky Branch on Thursday, November 3, 2022 from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. with funeral services to follow at 11:00 a.m., officiated by Bro. Don Delukie. Interment will be at the Rocky Branch Cemetery under the direction of Kilpatrick Funeral Homes Farmerville.
Mr. Freeman owned his own company for many years and created a lot of jobs for people. He was a welder by trade. He also worked for the Union Parish Sheriff’s Office as a deputy and later a canine deputy. He never met a stranger and was a friend to many people. He helped anyone that was in need. He was an avid white perch fisherman who loved his second home on Corney Creek and could always be found fishing in a tournament somewhere.
Left to cherish his memory are his wife, Connie Freeman; daughter, Rhonda (Kevin) James; sons, Gregory Freeman, Steven (Lea) Freeman; step-daughter, Tanya Lee; grandchildren, Bennie Keith Freeman, Jr., Andrew Freeman, Chadd Lohse, Alicia James, Sarah Freeman, Gregory Freeman, II, Dylan and Kaylan Hardie; brother Kerry (Lavenia) Freeman; sister Kathy (Ronnie) Hatton; numerous nieces and nephews.
Mr. Freeman was preceded in death by his parents, Bennie and Bessie Freeman; the mother of his children, Helen Martin; son, Bennie Keith Freeman, Sr.; and his younger brother, Erwin Freeman.
Pallbearers are Derek Russell, Jacob Freeman, Christian Freeman, Billy Dwayne Dean, Bennie Keith Freeman, II, and Chadd Lohse.
The family would like to thank Allegiance Hospice Care and their excellent staff and Sandra Dixon for taking such good care of him.
