Pat was born in Grand Bayou, Louisiana on 26 May 1924 to his parents now deceased, Benjamin Ellis Kincannon and Dora Miller Kincannon of Shreveport, Louisiana and died on 16 April 2012 at his residence in Ruston, LA. Pat grew up in Greenwood, Louisiana and the far west side of Shreveport. He spoke highly of his teachers at Greenwood, St. Johns and Fair Park High School. He felt he was well prepared for adult life. He graduated from Fair Park in 1941 and enlisted in the Army Air Force in 1942. He qualified to enter pilot training and after completion was assigned to a B-17 flying fortress unit. He was discharged in 1946 and married Sarah Ellen Howell while still in uniform. When the Korean War started, he was recalled to active duty in the U.S. Air Force in 1951. After serving in Korea he decided to make a career in the Air Force. His duties became involved in the Intercontinental Ballistic Missile Program. This was during the Cold War with the Soviet Union. The United States prevailed, but only after some very dangerous times. Pat was very proud of his 28 year career in the Air Force. He had a great love of his country and his family. When time came to retire, the family chose Ruston, Louisiana for their home. This led to many happy years with some wonderful relatives and friends. He had six family graduates from Louisiana Tech, one from LSU Baton Rouge, and one from Northwestern. He was an avid sports fan of Louisiana Tech. Pat was a member of the Trinity United Methodist Church in Ruston, The Military Officers Association, the Veterans of Foreign Wars, The American Legion and the Sons of Confederate Veterans. His two grandfathers served together in the Civil War. Pat developed an intense interest in finding his ancestors. He traced his family roots back to his oldest grandfather arriving in Pennsylvania in 1740 from Ireland. This family had five members' that fought in the American Revolution. This information led to his publishing a book of, “Kincannon History” which is his legacy to his family. Pat is survived by his wife and life mate of 66 years, Sarah Ellen Howell Kincannon, and four children, Tom Kincannon, Ted Kincannon and his wife Amy King Kincannon, Ben Kincannon and his wife Deborah White Kincannon, and Kathy Kincannon Warren and her husband Billy Warren.
