Funeral services for Bearl Wheeler, 75, of West Monroe, will be held at 2:00 P.M. , Thursday, January 4, 2024 at Lapine Assembly of God. Rev. Gene Benson and Rev. Linda Townsend will officiate. Interment will follow at Lapine Assembly of God cemetery under the care and direction of Kilpatrick Funeral Homes in West Monroe. Visitation will be held from 12:00 Noon until 2:00 P.M. prior to the service at the church.

Bearl was born on October 16, 1948 in West Monroe and passed away on December 26, 2023 in West Monroe. He attended Lapine Assembly of God for many years and retired as an operator from GM twenty plus years ago. Bearl was a pilot and loved to fly the friendly skies and he loved Christian music and wrote several Christian songs. He shared his love of music through Restoration Ministries prison ministry. Bearl was preceded in death by his parents, Ernest and Onie Mae Booth Wheeler.

Bearl is survived by his wife of 37 years, Cherie Hootsell Wheeler; seven children, Vanessa Wheeler,  Johnathan Wheeler and wife Autumn, Rebekah Willyard, Keith Hootsell, Larry Painich, William Painich, Jessica Wheeler; fifteen grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren and many other cherished family and friends.

Serving as pallbearers will be Keith Hootsell, Larry Painich, Jonathan Wheeler, Christian Wheeler, Stephen Willyard, and Jalin Willyard.

Serving as honorary pallbearers will be David Robert, Joseph McQuiston and Raymond Jackson.
