Funeral services for B.W. “Dub” Collins, 74, of West Monroe, LA, will be held at 10:00 am, Tuesday, December 24, 2013 at Kilpatrick Funeral Home, West Monroe, LA. Rev. Jason Maza will be officiating. Dub was born May 5, 1939 in Epps, LA and went to be with the Lord on December 22, 2013 at home with his wife and family by his side. He served his country in the U.S. Navy for four years, active and reserved for four years. He owned and operated Dubs Body Shop on Camp Road in West Monroe, LA for 27 years. He loved his family, his work and he enjoyed hunting and fishing. Dub was preceded in death by his parents, B.B. and Ethel Collins; one son, Douglas Collins; three brothers, James, Carl and Paul Collins. He is survived by his wife of 42 years, Velva Baxter Collins; two daughters, Doris George of Lake Charles, LA and Connie Shackelford and husband, William of Helena, AR; one son, Bubba Collins and wife, Gena of Beckmond, LA; one step-son, Jackie Skipper and wife, Karen of Angleton, TX; nine grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; one brother, Bill Collins and wife Sara of Greenville, MS. Pallbearers will be Bo Guiterrez, Jeremiah Edwards, Dale Edwards, Bryan Broussard, Jeff Frisby, and Ronnie Causey. The family would like to extend a special thank you to St. Joseph Hospice and his special nurse, David of Centergy Home Care. Visitation will be from 5:00 pm – 7:00 pm on Monday, December 23, 2013 at Kilpatrick Funeral Home, West Monroe, LA.
