Funeral services for Mrs. Avis J. Osborne Ellerbe, 83 of West Monroe will be held at 10:00 AM, Wednesday, April 13, 2011 in the chapel of Kilpatrick Funeral Home West Monroe. Rev. Jeff Marshall will be officiating. Interment to follow at Liberty Hill-Taylor Cemetery near Farmerville under the direction of Kilpatrick Funeral Home West Monroe. Mrs. Ellerbe was born July 19, 1927 in Sardis, Mississippi and passed away April 10, 2011 in West Monroe. She was retired from Selig Mfg Company, Monroe, LA where she also served as a Union President for several years. During World War II she served her country working at the Minden Munitions Factory. Mrs. Ellerbe later operated Interstate Liquors, Cheniere, La for nearly 25 years before retiring a second time. She was preceded in death by her parents, Gladys and Julius Osborne, Farmerville, LA and her brother Jack Osborne, and sisters, Lois Ellerbe and Claudine Osborne. Survivors include her son, Benny Ellerbe and wife Carol of Weldon Spring, Missouri; her two sisters, Eunice Wright of Ponchatoula, LA and Barbara Byers of Ponchatoula, LA; five grandchildren Ben Ellerbe, Chesterfield, Missouri, Kimberly Ellerbe, Atlanta, Georgia, Amanda Ellerbe, House Springs, Missouri, Cory Ellerbe and Kirstie Ellerbe, Weldon Spring, Missouri and 5 great-grandchildren. Visitation will be held Tuesday from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM at Kilpatrick Funeral Home West Monroe.
