Funeral services for Arshal Lee Brister, 86 of West Monroe will be held at 11:00 AM, Saturday, March 19, 2011 in the chapel of Kilpatrick Funeral Home West Monroe. Officiating will be Rev. Greg Clark and Rev. David Moreland . Interment will follow at Kilpatrick's Serenity Gardens West Monroe under the direction of Kilpatrick Funeral Home West Monroe. Mr. Brister was born February 20, 1925 in Sikes, La and passed away March 17, 2011 in Monroe, LA. He was a charter member of Cedar Crest Baptist Church and Caney Hunting Club. Mr. Brister served in the United States Army during World War II and was part of the Battle of the Bulge. Mr. Brister retired from Graphic Packaging after many years of service. He was preceded in death by his parents, Homer and Yancey Brister, 3 brothers, Louis, Pete and Holland Brister; a son, Jim Brister. He was a kind and gentle giant and never met a stranger. Mr. Brister was an avid sportsman and loved the outdoors. He enjoyed visiting and spoiling his grandkids. He is survived by his wife of 64 years Kathleen Brister; sons, Macky Brister and wife Dianne and Tommy Brister and wife Kim;daughter-in-law, Sandy Brister; sisters, Vetolie Gates, Virginia Hoover and Audra Pesnell; brothers, Stanley Brister, Homer Brister and Bobby Brister; grandchildren, Matthew Brister, Alanna LaBorde, Skye Brister, Lacey Brister and Kim Storm; 4 great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews and many other relatives. Pallbearers will be Matthew Brister, Kendall Farrar, Terry Brister, Larry Brister, Barry Brister, Hollis Gates, Randy Anding and Mike Brister. Thanks to the War Veterans Home and most especially to Dr. Don Hammett. Memorials may be made to Cedar Crest Baptist Church building fund. Visitation will be Friday from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM at Kilpatrick Funeral Home West Monroe.
