Alice Fallin GarnerKilpatrick Funeral HomeRuston, LAMrs. Garner was born August 25, 1911 and passed away March 18, 2008 following a lengthy illness.Mrs. Garner was a member of the Trinity United Methodist Church in Ruston. You could not meet Alice Fallin Garner without her making a big impact on your heart. You knew instantly that she was an extremely unique and interesting individual. Alice was one of five children. She was born on August 25, 1911 to Ollie Jane and Benjamin Lloyd Fallin of Choudrant, Louisiana. She lived her whole life in Lincoln Parish graduating from Louisiana Tech University and teaching in the Lincoln Parish School System for over 40 years. If you were a student of Alice Garner?s, you were very lucky. She loved teaching, particularly American History, and she loved and always remembered her students.Alice?s motto was ?Life is to be lived?, which she proceeded to do after retiring by traveling extensively with publisher groups to ?six of our seven continents.? Traveling was her passion, especially cruising. She could amaze you with such detailed recollections of her travels that you felt like you had been there.Alice had a green thumb and loved to have her hands in the dirt. A long time member of the Ruston Garden Club, she had a tremendous variety of interesting plants at her home in Ruston which she gladly shared with many.Alice went to meet her Heavenly Father on March 18, 2008, at the age of 96. She had a strong faith and looked forward to seeing her family that went before her including her parents, Ollie Jane and Benjamin Lloyd Fallin, her husband, W.T. Garner, her sisters Mary Lee Chandler and Erline Fallin Webster, and brother, Henry Ford Fallin.Alice did not have children, but she is the cherished sister of Daniel Webster Fallin and beloved Aunt to Alton Fallin and wife Sylvia, JoAnna Fallin Duarte and husband Luis, C.H. Chandler and wife Joan, Mary Olive Gary, and Sondra Webster Davis. She is lovingly remembered as well by many great nieces and nephews and countless friends.For certain, Alice would want to express her gratitude to all those that cared for her so lovingly in the end, especially her close friend Danny Bonaventure in addition , Alice formed a caring bond with caregivers Rachelle Latham, Renee? Street, Shaneisha Bryant, and Patricia Smith. Alice Fallin Garner touched many people?s lives with her generouscompassionate spirit, her sharp mind, and her enthusiasm for life. No doubt she is ?stompin? mightily? right now and we here will greatly miss her.Graveside services for Alice Fallin Garner, age 96, of Ruston will be held at 12:00 P.M Saturday, March 22, 2008 at Greenwood cemetery in Ruston. Officiating the service will be Rev. Fred Wideman under the direction of Kilpatrick Funeral Home in Ruston.Visitation will be from 8:00 A.M to 11:00 A.M Saturday at Kilpatrick Funeral Home in Ruston. Pallbearers will be great nephews Bill, Gerry, and Mike Gary, great- great nephews Douglas, Calvin, Jack, and Brandon Gary, and friends Larry Jarrell, and Rob Shadoin and Cole Thibaut.
