Alfred M. Calhoun, 83, of Monroe, passed away at home on April 1, 2023. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M., Thursday, April 6, 2023 in the chapel of Kilpatrick Funeral Homes in West Monroe. Rev. Paul Laird will officiate and interment will follow at St. Paschal’s Cemetery in West Monroe. Visitation will be held prior to the service from 12 Noon until 2:00 P.M. at the funeral home.
Alfred was born on May 11, 1939 in Monroe, Louisiana. He served in the United States Air Force stationed in Guam and had a lengthy career in law enforcement, especially investigation, and retired from the Ouachita Parish Sheriff’s Office as Colonel. Alfred was preceded in death by his sons, Wayne Calhoun and Michael Calhoun; parents, John and Mary Mayo Calhoun; siblings, Sadie, James, Byron, Brisbane, Homer, and Jack.
Alfred is survived by his wife of almost 19 years, Margaret Honeycutt Calhoun; children, Rhonda Calhoun Albritton, Edward James Calhoun and wife Tonya; step-son, John Darius LaDart and wife Ruth; special granddaughter, Jennifer Daniels and husband Derek; grandchildren, Amanda, Casey, Kayla, Jamie, Kaitlyn, Ben, and Zach; great-granddaughter, Ardyn, Amelia, and Olivia; sister, Gloria Faye Hattaway; special nephew, Jimmy McCormick and his two sons, Brandon and Justin; and many other cherished family and friends.
Pallbearers will be Scott Rowdon, Ron Huey, Dwaine Lenard, Ken Schlessman, Joe Davis, and Glenn Springfield. Honorary pallbearers will be retired sheriffs, Laymon Godwin and Richard Fewell, retired District Attorney, Jerry Jones and Dr. Kerry Anders.
