Zachariah Lord Wasson, 64, died peacefully at home in Choudrant, Louisiana, surrounded by his family on Tuesday, October 17, 2017. A Eucharist service will be held in memory of Zach at St. James Episcopal Church in Jackson, Mississippi, at 11:00 am on Friday, October 20, followed by visitation and lunch.Zach, affectionately known by family and friends as Big Z, was born to David Edmund and Evelyn Lord Wasson on May 14, 1953, in Kosciusko, MS. Wasson was a graduate of Pillow Academy and Mississippi State University where he earned a bachelor of science in accounting and masters of business administration. He was also a Chartered Financial Analyst‚´¢ and a Certified Public Accountant. Zach completed the four-year Education for Ministry (EFM) program and was a Eucharist minister at St. James.Zach Wasson was Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer at Origin Bank. Wasson had extensive banking background, bringing nearly four decades of experience to Origin when he assumed this position in 2014. He previously served as executive vice president and chief financial officer of banks in both Texas and Mississippi. In his role as Chief Financial Officer of Origin Bank, Wasson handled the financial and risk management operations of the company and participated in key decision making as a member of the executive management team.Throughout his career, Wasson was a financial industry expert in the areas of relationship management, performance improvement, mergers and acquisitions, as well as balance sheet management and strategy. In addition, Wasson has held leadership roles with various business and community organizations, including Mississippi CFA Society and the Greater Houston Partnership.Zachwill be lovingly remembered by his wife of 31.5 years, Linda Stuckey Wasson of Choudrant, Louisiana; daughter Katie Wasson Corkern and husband Bob Corkern of Ridgeland, Mississippi; son Zachariah Lord Wasson II and wife Jackie Leverett Wasson of Berkeley, California; niece Dawn Zingery Dozier and husband Robert Hugh Dozier and great nephew Sennett Dozier. He will also be fondly remembered by his brother David George Wasson. Sr.(Catherine); his sisters Penny Wasson Dralle (Bart) and Melissa Wasson Barrett (Gene); sister-in-law Trisha Stuckey Zingery (Ken); and numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins.He was preceded in death by his parents David and Evelyn Wasson.In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Cancer Society or a charity of choice.Online condolences may be made to the family at www.kilpatrickfuneralhomes.com
