Young Gervais NorsworthyFuneral services for Young Gervais Norsworthy, age 79, will be held at Temple Baptist Church, in the Chapel, on Tuesday, July 26th, at 11:00 A.M. Visitation will be from 5:00 7:00 P.M. on Monday, July 25th, at the Kilpatrick Funeral Home.Dr. Reggie Bridges and Rev. Dale Oden will officiate the service, with music directed by Jeremy Asher. Interment will be at Pines Memorial Gardens in Ruston, LA.\tGervais was born July 28, 1936 in Bellwood, LA, and passed away July 21, 2016. He was preceded in death by his parents, Jeff Norsworthy and Orean Boswell Norsworthy; and brother, Douglas Norsworthy.He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Hedy Holbrook Norsworthy; by his sons, Wade and wife Dawn, Kevin and wife Mandy, Jeff and Clint; and, by his 6 grandchildren: Heather, Jared, Zach, Kadie, Aaron, and Bree. He is also survived by his brother Norman and wife Sue; and his sisters, Laverne Franks and husband Raymond, and Gwen Cole and husband Jesse; plus, his nieces and nephews.Gervais lived most of his adult life in Oak Grove and Ruston. A graduate of Northwestern State University of Louisiana, he became known as a man of many trades. He worked several years in the gas industry, before a career-long employment with Entergy. He later started a self-employed contract business called Norsworthy & Associates, where he applied his knowledge of blueprints, schematics, wiring, metal work, and carpentry, to solve industrial problems. He always believed a job well done was a job done right. He truly loved to help people with their needs and could lift one spirit with his humor. Other interests were gardening, growing scuppernongs, and cutting firewood. Gervais loved the Lord and enjoyed teaching in the church, serving on several committees, and traveling with college students on work related mission trips. He was affectionately known as The Gerv.
