Funeral services for Yancy Brasher, 58, of West Monroe are 2:00 PM Tuesday, July 10, 2012 at First West, West Monroe with Brother Mark Fenn and Brother Jeff Thomas officiating. Interment will follow at Kilpatrick's Serenity Gardens in West Monroe under the direction of Kilpatrick Funeral Home, West Monroe. Mr. Brasher was born July 30, 1953 and went to be with the Lord on July 7, 2012. Raised in Farmerville, LA, Yancy knew his wife since elementary school and graduated from East Union Academy. He proposed to his wife while they were both attending their Alma Mater, Louisiana Tech University. He was a lifelong Bulldog fan and loved all sports. He was employed with J. C. G. as an engineer and was a member of First West. He was a beloved husband, father, son, brother, brother-in-law, uncle and friend. Yancy was an outdoorsman and also loved to travel with his family. He will be remembered as a Godly man that was always willing to put others before himself as he displayed the love of God to everyone he encountered. He loved God, his family, and other people with a servant's heart. “He has told you, O man, what is good; and what does the Lord require of you but to do justice, and to love kindness, and to walk humbly with your God?” Micah 6:8 ESV He was preceded in death by his Father, James Coy Brasher and brother Atly Brasher. Survivors are his wife of 37 years, Colleen C. Brasher; two children, Courtney Brasher and Caleb Yancy Brasher and fiancé Lia Singleton; mother, Ida Lee Brasher; two sisters, Judy Riser and husband Bob and Sherry Hajec and husband Bob; mother and father-in-law, Hilda and Chiles Carpenter; sister-in-law, Colette Breard and husband Mike; eight nieces and nephews, Seth Riser and wife Julie, Adam Riser and wife Shay, Jared Riser, Allison Hajec, Brandon Hajec, Lyndsey Sikes and husband Alex, Daniel Breard and wife Paige, and Luke Breard; and numerous other relatives and friends. Pallbearers are Mike Breard, Bob Riser, Brandon Hajec, Adam Riser, Seth Riser, Luke Breard, Daniel Breard, and Jared Riser. Honorary pallbearers are Bob Hajec, O. W. Hogan, Rome Fuller, and Conrad Bourg, Steve Cook, and Byron Jackson. Visitation is Monday, July 9 from 6:00 – 8:00 PM at First West, West Monroe.
