Funeral services for Reverend Woodrow Wilson Reeder Jr., 69 of Bernice, LA., will be held at 2:00 P.M. Thursday, May 23, 2013, at Crestview Baptist Church in Farmerville. Officiating the service will be Rev. Connie Ward, Rev. Wayne Whiteside, Rev. Barry Joyner, and Rev. Charles Malone. Interment will follow in Bernice City cemetery under direction of Kilpatrick Funeral Home of Farmerville. Mr. Reeder was born on May 17, 1944 in Buffalo, New York and passed away on May 20, 2013 in Farmerville, LA. He is preceded in death by his parents, Woodrow and Loy Reeder, a brother Leo Eugene Reeder and infant daughter Christy Lynn. He Graduated from Bernice High School in 1962, Louisiana Polytechnic Institute with a BS in Management in 1966, Louisiana Tech University with a Masters in Marketing in 1968, numerous Insurance Degrees, and a Bachelor's Degree in Counseling and Maters in Divinity from Liberty University. Following graduation, he began his career as a state auditor for the state of Louisiana. He taught Business and Insurance Law at University of Southwestern Louisiana in 1968. He then began his insurance career in 1969 with Fidelity Union. He joined Aetna Life Casualty in 1971. He was then relocated to various states throughout his career with Aetna and retired from the company in 1991. He began his career with AIG in 1991, and was relocated overseas to Southeast Asia where he was Vice President of agents in Singapore, President and CEO of Soule South Korea and Bangkok Thailand operations. He left the company in 1996. In 1997, he began his career with Mass Mutual of Canada and was President and CEO in Singapore. In 1998, he retired from a long career in the insurance industry. Following retirement he moved back to Bernice in 1998 and owned and operated WoodNJAR horse ranch until he was called to the ministry in 2000, He served as Pastor of Mt. Tabor Baptist Church for twelve years and retired in June of 2012. During his ministry he served as head of the finance committee for Union Concord Association and served on numerous other committees within the association. He joined the Union Fraternal Lodge #53 F. & A.M. in 2001. He has served as the Grand Master and was currently serving as secretary. He will be missed greatly by many across the United States and the world as he never met a stranger. He is survived by his wife of forty seven years Judith Reeder of Bernice, LA; children: Stefanie Reeder Cady and husband Blaine of West Monroe, LA; Brandon Keith Reeder and wife Megan of Point, LA; four grandchildren: Sarah Elizabeth Cady, Ashlen Grace Cady, Andrew Blaine Cady, and Ryan Keith Reeder; sister, Patricia Copeland of Ruston, LA; niece, nephew, and other family and friends. Pallbearers will be Allen Hyde, Skip Boyd, Stephen Tucker, Roy Ludwig, Carroll McGardy, and Bill Chapell. Honorary pallbearers will be Donovan Bailey, Tim Burns, Jason Cummings and Tommy Albritton. Memorials may be made to LA Baptist Children's Home; or Union Parish Humane Society. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, May 22, 2013 from 5:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. at Crestview Baptist Church.
