Bill was born on November 4, 1932 in Eros, Louisiana and went home with Christ on June 24, 2022 in Calhoun, Louisiana with family by his side. He was preceded in death by his parents, Archie Otto DeMoss and Maudie Griggs DeMoss; wife, Bobbie Faye Tanner DeMoss; daughter, Debra DeMoss Moore; sister, Gretchen Lewis; sons-in-law, James Rodney Moore and Richard Earl Calhoun.
“Every Day is a Little Better” was Bill’s motto always approaching the day with a smile and positive attitude. He was a surveyor by trade and believed in working hard and serving all people to the best of his ability. Bill served his community in many ways; however he was most proud to have served on the Ouachita Parish School Board, representing District B for 12 years, some of these years serving as School Board President.
Bill’s love of family was evident by the flow of children, grandchildren, and extended family and friends visiting with him in his home. His daughter’s lovingly called him, “Sweet Poppa”.
Left To cherish precious memories of stories told about “Ziggy”, silly songs, big Christmas and holiday family gatherings are his children, Gary DeMoss, Dale DeMoss (Karen), Mike DeMoss (Joyce), Cindy Coker (Troy), Kevin DeMoss (Penny), Ellen Whitlock (Wendell); more blessings than can be counted in grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, and extended family and friends.
Pallbearers will be his grandsons, Alan DeMoss, David DeMoss, Jacob DeMoss, Chris Moore, Terry Malmay, and Adam Calhoun. Honorary pallbearers will be Wendell Whitlock, Troy Coker, Chester Anders, Dylan Doucett, and Richie Evans.
The family wishes to extend special thanks to Judy Lewis and Patti Watson for never leaving our side and to Passages Hospice for making it possible for our Daddy to be at home.
