William McConkey was born March 30, 1962 in Pineville, LA, and was called home on January 10, 2021. He attended McClendon Baptist Church and was a proud member of the church security team. William was passionate about his faith, family and friends, and he was a role model for many people. His family was the light of his life, and he was a proud and generous husband, father, and grandfather. He retired from the Monroe Police Reserve at the rank of lieutenant after serving for 21 years. He was an avid golfer and a hard-working charismatic Business Development Manager at Coca-Cola Bottling Company United. He was preceded in death by his mother Ethel McConkey; brothers Douglas McConkey and Kent McConkey; mother-in-law Mary Wood; nephew Justin McConkey.
William is survived by his wife of 40 years Donna McConkey ; sons Josh McConkey and wife Meghan, Hayden McConkey and girlfriend Lauren; granddaughter Harley McConkey; father Ken McConkey and wife Judy; Michael McConkey and wife Dottie; father-in-law Travis Wood; sisters-in-law Lisa McConkey, Sherry Lindle and husband Mark and Dejuana Lane and husband Richard; dear friends Michael and Gerry Johnson; numerous nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers will be Dr. Butch Dunn, Michael Johnson, Todd Bordelon, Jeff Barton, Kyle McConkey and Brett Vance.
Honorary pallbearers will be men of Bordelon’s Sunday School class.
His family would like to give special thanks to home health nurse Hannah Frith and Dr. Butch Dunn for all of their care, love and support.
